This book presents pictorially an overview of the historical development of architecture in Illinois from early settlement, when building style was borrowed from Europe, until the twentieth century, when Sullivan and Wright and the Chicago school set the pace in architecture for the whole world. Published under the auspices of the Illinois Sesquicentennial Commission.
