Overview
This fun-filled unit introduces young students to insects and spiders using a combination of simple information and activities that make learning exciting. Topics covered Detailed "Learning About" pages for Ants, Butterflies, Crickets, Flies, and Spiders. Each of these pages is accompanied by pertinent activities, such as Butterfly Stages, The Cricket Rap, Housefly Life Cycle and Fly Mitt Puppet, and follow-up exercises for The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle. Also included are Insect Songs, a poem titled Shiny Beetle, Very Busy Spider Headbands, and a Spider Web Game and Gameboard. There are also 20 Insect and Spider Cards, featuring accurate artwork that can be put to use in a variety of provided activities, such as "Bug" Bingo and Concentration. You get a recipe for Edible Bugs and Spiders (all made of peanut butter and other readily available ingredients), as well as a full-color, two-sided pull-out poster explaining the distinctions between insects and spiders.
